Scholarship 1:
“How will a $3,000 scholarship for education make a difference in your life?”
With an extra $3,000 I would get home before midnight and worry more about my homework and less about picking up another late shift at work. I would buy any required textbook, rather than stress over the prices and hunt discounts online. I would spend less time constantly counting fees that are not included in tuition, and therefore are not covered by excelsior scholarship. I would be more confident in graduating in the next three years by taking classes over the summer and winter, and afford the extra transportation. Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of my childhood role model Naruto, once said, “Our job is to do all that we can while we are alive, and entrust the rest for the future generations to accomplish.” I am grateful for being the son of a couple who live their lives according to this value. My father raised my brother and I alone in Nepal, while my mother tirelessly worked in United States for four years so that we could live as a family in New York. Even today, my parents continue to work hard for the roof over our heads and the food on our table. I am the first in my family to attend college and intend to make the most of this opportunity of higher education. I can think of many ways an extra $3,000 will help me, but the most significant reason is taking another big step in reaching my nursing license and making my parents proud.
